How to protect yourself from stomach ulcers
What causes stomach ulcers?
The main cause is the bacterial species helicobacter pylori is through food and water. Also, it is found in human saliva so it can be transmitted orally orally as tongue-sucking lovers.
These bacteria live on the walls of the digestive tract and produce enzymes called urease that reduce the effect of acid in the intestine.
The intestine wants to compensate for the amount of acid that is lost by forming more and causes it to tear down the walls of the intestine.
Another reason is the genetics of genetics. A large number of people with stomach ulcers have close relatives with ulcers as well. This leads experts to think that hereditary particles are involved as well.
Smoking and tobacco. Smokers are more at risk of getting stomach ulcers compared to non-smokers. Alcohol / alcohol use. Alcoholics are at greater risk of developing stomach ulcers compared to non-alcoholics.
Stress of thought. Stress does not directly cause ulcers but makes the situation worse for patients.
Symptoms of ulcers
It should be noted that a person rarely suffers from stomach ulcers and shows no symptoms.
The following are symptoms that occur in many patients;
Stomach pain and becomes more intense when acid passes over the sores.
The pain can range from the navel to the upper chest to the middle of the chest.
The pain may increase when you are hungry. Also, they can be intense at night which can be reduced by eating less food.
Other symptoms are failure to properly swallow food or getting stuck if it wants to go back to the mouth, feeling bad after eating, losing weight, losing appetite.
Symptoms include vomiting of blood, getting a large black or heavy toilet and experiencing nausea and vomiting.
How to detect stomach ulcers
Patient information about the symptoms helps the doctor feel what is causing the patient to have stomach ulcers.
To confirm the lesions the following tests are performed. Blood tests check for h.pylori bacteria and if the patient has been using antibiotics or antibiotics Proton Pump Inhibitors ‘PPIs’ for example Omeprazole. His blood tests will show a negative response.
Breath test. The patient is given to drink fluids containing broken carbon atoms, this causes H.pylori bacteria to break down and one hour later the patient breathes in a sealed container. If the patient is infected, a breath sample will show carbon slices on carbon dioxide.
Testing antigen in feces. This test checks if there is h.pylori bacteria in the feces. The same test is used to check the effectiveness of the treatment given against the bacteria.
Make an upper gastrointestinal x-ray 'x-ray'. The photos show ‘esophagus’, stomach bag ‘stomach’ and dudenum. The patient swallows 'Barium' water which makes sores easily visible on the x-ray.
Treatment
As ulcers will be caused by bacteria h.pylori antibiotics and antibiotics are used.
If gastric ulcers are caused by 'NSAIDs' and have no bacterial infection h.pylori will need to use the Proton Pump Inhibitors 'PPIs' medications such as Omeprazole, Esomeprazole & Lansoprazole.
Proton Pump Inhibitors ‘PPIs’ work by breaking down / blocking the function of proteins called ‘Proton Pump’ which are involved in the production of acid in the womb.
The use of NSAIDs for the elimination of fever and pain will be supported by drugs such as Paracetamol.
Also, the H2-Receptor Antagonists drug, for example Cimetidine, is used as an alternative if 'PPIs' are not available.
H2-Receptor Antagonists work to block the function of a protein called 'Histamine' which is responsible for stimulating the production of acid in the womb.
The above treatments can take some time before they can start working, so a doctor can add other treatments like acupuncture 'Antiacids' & 'Alginates' for quick relief.
How to live with stomach ulcers
The following things will help you to live better with stomach ulcers; stop using coffee and tea, as these substances increase the acidity of your stomach. You can use herbal tea as an alternative.
Drink milk and dairy products like yogurt and cheese.
Milk is thought to cover the gut and reduce the effect of stomach acid. Try to lose weight especially if you are overweight and do not fit your height.
Eat at least a little regularly. This will help to reduce the effect of stomach acid.
Stop or drink alcohol on special days only because alcohol often shows up on stomach ulcers that want to recover.
Avoid the use of food ingredients as they make the situation worse.
Quit smoking, tobacco, and marijuana. Smoking will put you at greater risk of starting new wounds and preventing other wounds from surviving.
